Terms of Service

The short version

1. Who we are

Foolore (“we”, “us”) is an interactive story game in early development, run by the Foolore team. We are not yet incorporated; these terms will name our company once it is registered. You can reach us at [email protected].

These terms apply to the website foolore.ai, the web version at foolore.ai/play and the Foolore apps (together, “Foolore”). By using Foolore you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Foolore.

2. Who can use Foolore

You must be at least 16 years old. Foolore is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 16 to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms. If we learn that a user is under 16, we will close the account and delete its data.

3. You are talking to an AI

The narrator and every character in Foolore are generated by artificial intelligence (large language models). No human writes or reads their replies in real time. Characters may claim feelings, memories or a life of their own: that is part of the fiction, not a fact.

4. Safety

If you are thinking about hurting yourself or others, or you are in danger, please stop playing and reach out to a real person right now:

Every message you send is checked by an automatic filter that blocks content sexualising or harming children and attempts to manipulate the AI. Our safeguards are early and imperfect, and the story will not reliably notice that you are in distress: please do not rely on it. You can report any reply with the Report button in the game or by email.

5. A free prototype

Foolore is offered free of charge as an early prototype. We may change, limit or remove any feature, story or limit at any time, reset accounts and saves, or stop the service. Your games are saved mainly on your own device; deleting the app, clearing your browser data or switching devices can lose them. There are daily and total usage limits, which we may change.

6. Your account

The app creates an anonymous guest account for your device, without an email or password. Some testers get an email account with an invite code. Keep your sign-in private; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can stop using Foolore at any time and ask us to delete your data (see the Privacy Policy).

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Foolore to:

We may refuse requests, end a story, limit or suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts others at risk.

8. Your content and the stories

Your text stays yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process and display what you type, and to send it to our AI providers, only as needed to run Foolore, keep it safe and fix problems. When you send a report, you also let us review that game to improve Foolore.

The stories you play are generated for you; to the extent we have rights in them, you may use them for personal, non-commercial purposes. Similar text may be generated for other players. The story worlds, characters, art, software and the Foolore name belong to us or our licensors.

If you believe something on Foolore infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with details, and we will look into it promptly.

9. Third-party services

Foolore relies on AI model providers (through OpenRouter), hosting and network providers, and app stores. Their terms may also apply to you, for example the terms of the store you downloaded the app from.

10. No warranty

Foolore is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent the law allows.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost data or lost progress, and our total liability for any claim about Foolore is limited to USD 50. Foolore is free, and you use it at your own risk.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and nothing takes away your mandatory rights as a consumer in the country where you live (including in the European Union, Canada and Quebec).

12. Ending

You may stop using Foolore at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop the service. Sections 8 to 13 continue to apply after that.

13. Changes and law

We may update these terms as Foolore grows. For an important change we will ask you to accept the new version in the app; the date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Foolore after a change, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the Foolore team is established, without affecting the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence, and you can always bring a claim in the courts where you live if your local law allows it. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems can be solved by email.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Foolore.
